Israel was the people of God until they came out of Egypt, and then they were the church of God. The word “church” means “called out,” the exodus, bringing out. And this is God dealing with His servant, bringing—to bring the children out of Egypt. Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mount of God, even to Horeb. And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire.
