Question

What does the name El Shaddai mean?

Answer

When He appeared to Abraham when He was a hundred years old, He said, “I am the El Shaddai.” El Shaddai means, El comes from God, Shaddai from shad, means “the—the bosom,” like on a woman. In other words, “Abraham, I am the breasted One. You just come to Me, I know you’re old, and you can’t—you can’t see how it can be possible, but you just lean up here on My bosom and I’ll show you how I’ll do it.”
