Getting started

Searching

Type two or three words into the search box at the top of the page, or open Search from the menu. A few words usually work better than a whole sentence.

  • Your words are looked for in the questions and the answers, and in the title and place of each sermon. A result has to contain all of them. Other forms of a word count too: heal also finds healing and healed.
  • Type a date to see the answers from that day, as the citations write it (1965-06-27) or in words (June 27, 1965 or 27 June 1965). A month on its own, such as June 1965, shows that month.
  • Type a sermon's code as the sermon books print it, such as 64-0823M, to see that sermon. Without the letter, 64-0823 shows every sermon from that day.
  • Type a paragraph with § or the word paragraph, such as §45 or paragraph 45, to see the answers at that paragraph. Put it after a date, a code or a sermon title to go straight to one answer: 64-0823M §45, The Seventh Seal §45.
  • A number on its own finds that paragraph, and also the answers with that number in them.
  • Exact phrase only finds the words together, in the order you typed them.
  • Where your words appear exactly as you typed them, they are highlighted in the question and the start of the answer.
  • Sort puts the results in order of Relevance, or with the Newest sermons first.
  • The filters narrow the results by Topic, Sermon title, Location, a date range (Date from and Date to) or Paragraph number. Press Apply filters. On the search page, before you search, they are under Search by sermon, place, date, or paragraph. They work without any words, or together with what you type.
  • A question answered in several sermons shows once, with a link such as and 3 more answers to this question. Choose show every answer separately above the results to list each one.

Under each result, Save keeps it in your library, Copy citation copies its reference, and Read more opens the full answer. Your last few searches are remembered while you browse: click into the empty search box at the top of the page to see them.
